- April 30, 2025
Union Cooperative Minister Amit Shah on Sunday targeted the previous Congress government and said that the cooperative movement died down across the country due to policy inaction. The main reason for this is that the laws which should have been changed with time did not happen. In the state level cooperative conference organized under the International Cooperative Year 2025, Shah said, the cooperative movement was crawling in the country for years. He said, 25 years after independence, a government ministry was formed to give momentum to this movement. PM Modi established the Ministry of Cooperation and made me the first minister. After this, the movement gained momentum. Shah said that the previous governments of the Center did not even think about the salvation of this sector. How could there be a thought when there was no cooperative ministry. Due to this, no initiative was taken at the central level by keeping the dimensions of rural development, agricultural development and animal husbandry together. He said that the Centre works within the Constitution, therefore the Cooperative Ministry first prepared model bylaws and sent them to all the state governments. Model bylaws have been accepted all over India.
