Cooperation Minister Vishwas Kailash Sarang on Sunday inspected the drainage system at Prabhat Square of Narela Assembly under the massive cleaning campaign of drains in Bhopal city and gave necessary instructions to the municipal corporation officials. Minister Sarang said that a massive cleaning campaign has been started to prevent waterlogging during monsoon. He said that under this campaign, cleaning of all the drains of Bhopal city will be ensured. Along with this, a public awareness campaign will also be launched to ensure that people do not throw garbage in the drains. During the inspection, senior officials of Bhopal Municipal Corporation, local public representatives and area residents were present. Minister Sarang said that this year the Meteorological Department has predicted that the monsoon will enter Bhopal a year earlier. In view of this, a massive campaign has been started for cleaning all the drains of Bhopal city. He said that every year the Municipal Corporation runs a cleaning campaign before the monsoon. Minister Sarang directed that this work should be started in advance. This will ensure that the cleaning work is completed on time and waterlogging situation will not arise in future. Minister Sarang said that the cleaning of drains will be ensured through machines and along with this it will also be ensured that the residents of the areas where drains are located nearby should be instructed not to throw garbage in the drains. A public awareness campaign will also be run in this direction. This will make the citizens understand the importance of maintaining the cleanliness of drains. He said that waste materials like polythene block the flow of water in the drains. This leads to waterlogging and overflow. For this, dump stations will also be built near the drains for garbage disposal, so that the garbage does not go directly into the drains.
